Sing Praises

Over the last year or so, I began diligently 'learning' about worship. I type the word, "learn" because it was a little more detailed than I had originally imagined.

A few years back, I would see many people raise their hands, cry, tremble and even speak in a weird language under their breath. Utterly confused, I mimicked for months because I did not know any better.

For those of you who are seasoned Christians, I know you are giggling but this is exactly what took place.

About a year later, after falling into a deep, three-hour worship service that ended in basking in the presence of God and the inability to stand, the Lord said, "Are you done faking it?" (Talk about a wake up call).

So began the diligent pursuit.

Over the next few weeks, God gave me revelation upon revelation that it is NOT about the music.

Worship and praising our Heavenly Father does not have to do with the tempo, style, or the volume of the music.

It has to do with the position of our hearts.

It says in 1 Chronicles 16:23-31,

"Sing to the Lord, all the earth;

Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.

Declare His glory among the nations,

His wonders among all peoples.

For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised;

He is also to be feared above all gods.

For all the gods of the peoples are idols,

But the Lord made the heavens.

Honor and majesty are before Him;

Strength and gladness are in His place.

Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples,

Give to the Lord glory and strength.

Give to the Lord the glory due His name;

Bring an offering, and come before Him.

Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!

Tremble before Him, all the earth.

The world also is firmly established,

It shall not be moved.

Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad;

And let them say among the nations, "The Lord reigns."

It is ALL in our heart.

If we worship from our hearts, it pleases our Savior, Jesus Christ.

It does not matter how we sing, in tune or off key. Our Father loves to hear us singing praises to Him.

Not only does He love it but he commands us to do it every, single day. Even if you do not want to. Let me rephrase that, ESPECIALLY if you do not want to.

We are to worship and glorify His name, sing a beautiful song, dance around and fall in love with Him. This does not benefit Him. This benefits us!

I challenge you today to give up three to five minutes every day this week and sing praises to our Heavenly Father.

Mark it on your calendar, this will change your life and I guarantee you will be giving a lot more than three to five minutes a month from now!

If you would like to experience an amazing song that has pulled me down to me knees, have a listen to Hillsong's 'So Will I'. You will not regret it.

Open your heart and receive all the glorious wonders God has provided you today!
