Creative Coffee Date

Today was 'day two' of my new adventures with God, kindly provided by Charissa of Art of Adventure. I stumbled upon her blog a few days ago and found myself downloading each one of her freebies found here.

My husband and I will be taking our longest road trip late next week so this was the perfect opportunity to cordially invite God along the way.

But, why wait?

Yesterday, I thumbed through the Tiny Adventures, Scavenger Hunts, and Creative Dates and came to the realization that if I put a little effort in planning, throw in a little creativity, and flat out enjoy myself, working out of order would be the least of my concern because I know my Father, who delights in me would not mind one bit.

And that's exactly what I did.

Day Four found its way a bit early after a morning full of worship and praise; my husband and I jumped in the truck and made our way to Catalina Coffee.

There was absolutely no plan other than to order coffee for Daniel, myself AND God.

We found ourselves praying and inviting Jesus to come and join us for a hot latte.

It did not occur to me until after we finished our date with God, how many people were inside the coffee shop. Twenty to twenty-five people were sipping, laughing, and ordering coffee but even with all of the noise, we heard nothing but God's voice.

I cannot speak for Daniel but this was without a shadow of a doubt, the best coffee I have ever had. Though it was only a thirty minute date before work, God opened the door to a perfect Friday.

I spent the remaining hours hanging out with God and wallowing in His presence and there is no turning back now. Just as Hosea 2:14 says,

"Therefore I am now going to allure her, I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her."

This is the intimacy He wants and yearns from me. He wants that relationship with you as well. It is our job to make time for Jesus; to make Him feel loved and that is not even half of what He will return.

I did not know what these "Creative Dates" would look like, but whatever I had envisioned was nowhere near what I was given in return.

I plan to work down the Creative Dates and Tiny Adventures over the next forty days and I will be documenting as much as I can to share the beauty of my Heavenly Father.

I invite you, today, to spend time with your Maker. Your Creator. Your Husband in the Heavenlies.
