No Matter What

If there is any one thing in which I take full advantage of, it's music.

Whether I am off for a run, cleaning the house, bursting for joy to go dancing or falling head over hill for Jesus, music is always involved.

Growing up with the "Golden" Oldies and Country & Western along with parents that could shake it loose at any given moment, my childhood was filled with tunes. With a combination of my parent's love for music and dancing, and their lack of opportunity to play an instrument; my dream was made true when fifth grade came around to choose our electives.

"Carolyn will do well playing the clarinet," my sixth grade band director said. (Remind me to send Ms. Purgley an apology letter one of these days).

I screeched and squeaked for years on end and every single concert we played in, my mom would cry as if it was her first time hearing me; even well into my Senior year of high school.

Playing clarinet went on into my college years and eventually my poor clarinet found a place in the corner after graduation. Every once in a while it gets dusted off, apologized to and I'll give her a run up a chromatic scale or two but no matter what, the love of music never went away.

After the clarinet, dancing came in and stole the show. I was introduced to salsa and it all went down hill from there. Captivation set in with the musicianship, claves, tempos and more. Though I put my clarinet down, I danced to the sounds of salsa without any care in the world.

Over time, I was introduced to worship music and something lit up inside of me. It was kind of like salsa but it tugged at a completely different part of my heart.

I began researching more and more music, learning which artists and lyrics would pull at my heart. Slowly I began sharing my current favorite songs HERE, but today you get the five songs I currently have on repeat.

I do not know about you but once I find a worship song to dance and sing to, it will be on till I cannot fathom the thought of listening to it ever again, (which usually takes about a week to get over until the song is back on repeat) and no matter what, I will be back to singing, dancing, and looking like a crazy sap for the love of Jesus.

And you know what? That is exactly what He wants me to do!

1 Chronicles 16:23 says,

Sing to the LORD, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day.

Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.

For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.

Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his dwelling place.

Ascribe to the LORD, all you families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.

Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him.

Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.

Tremble before him, all the earth! The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!”

This is our job. No, this is our responsibility! We are to WORSHIP our Lord, NO MATTER WHAT.

Below are some of the songs which are slowly being etched on my heart. They have lyrics and phrases that bring me to my knees, generating my hips to move and sway and by the time the songs ends, I'm laughing and crying all at the same time.

I invite you to come and join me in worshiping our Savior. Turn off your phone for twenty-five minutes. I know, I know but trust me, you will not regret it. Dive in, submerge yourself in the love poured out in each of these songs. Find choruses that grab your heart and bend your soul.

Whether you are in your car, at home or at the gym, invite the Holy Spirit to sing, dance and fall in love because No Matter What, Your Savior is saving a dance just for you.
