Sail

Take the wheel Lord, change the course of my vessel.

Point Your bow and guide me toward your lighthouse.

Should I not follow, I ask that you break off a wooden spoke and pierce my heart, tie a sheepshank knot around my tongue and drop Your anchor in my soul so I may be still.

Use the crash of Your waves and salty crisp air to shield me from the storm that masks Your clear blue sky.

Lord I ask that brighten every star so I shall never wander and use the needle of the compass to sew up my broken heart.

Give me hope Lord as I surrender to you on bended knees so I may stand firm and secure always.

After swimming in this for a while, a few scriptures were revealed to me and my eyes were open to see what was stated in James 3:2-6:

For we all stumble and sin in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says never saying the wrong thing, he is a perfect man fully developed in character, without serious flaws, able to bridle his whole body and rein in his entire nature taming his human faults and weaknesses. Now if we put bits into the horses’ mouths to make them obey us, we guide their whole body as well. And look at the ships. Even though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are still directed by a very small rudder wherever the impulse of the helmsman determines. In the same sense, the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. See by comparison how great a forest is set on fire by a small spark! And the tongue is in a sense a fire, the very world of injustice and unrighteousness; the tongue is set among our members as that which contaminates the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life the cycle of man’s existence, and is itself set on fire by hell Gehenna.

and again in Proverbs 18:

Provervs 18:4 (AMP) The words of a man’s mouth are like deep waters copious and difficult to fathom; The fountain of mature, godly wisdom is like a bubbling stream sparkling, fresh, pure, and life-giving.

Proverbs 18:21 (AMP) Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.

and my favorite,

Philippianis 2:14-15 (AMP)

Do everything without murmuring or questioning the providence of God, so that you may prove yourselves to be blameless and guileless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish in the midst of a morally crooked and spiritually perverted generation, among whom you are seen as bright lights beacons shining out clearly in the world of darkness,

I encourage you to let God take wheel. What is worse, to let God take hold of your life or to go in circles for who knows how long? It's not worth it. Let go and let God steer your life in the direction of His will.

And if you have not ever heard this tune, I highly recommend you put on your best dancing shoes!
